Recently remodeled, 1,880 square foot cabin on the north shore of one of the most unique lakes in the state. Crystal lake is a 120 acre, 60 foot deep, natural spring fed lake. Motors are not allowed, so the only sounds you’ll hear are geese, ducks, loons, and Whip-poor-wills at night. The lake is surrounded by 1,023 acres of woods owned jointly by the 74 families with cabins on the lake, and managed under a plan funded by the Aldo Leopold Stewardship Fund, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It can’t be seen from any road. In general, if you don’t own property on Crystal Lake, you don’t even know it exists. Yet, you’re only 45 minutes from Oshkosh.

The “crystal” clear water drops off slowly near shore, making a perfect place for young children to play. However, the pier goes out to a depth of 5 feet, so you can dive off the end, and swim out to the 12 x 12 foot raft. You can enjoy the lake from the pier, or from the gazebo on top of the waterfront “boathouse”, the only one remaining on the lake.
Bluegill and crappie fishing is some of the best around, and the cabin includes a 16 foot john boat powered by an electric trolling motor, both child and adult size kayaks, and a canoe. (Almost everyone on this lake paddles.) If trout fishing is what you are interested in, the Mecan River, one of Wisconsin’s most popular trout fishing streams, runs through the 1,023 acres of private lake association property.

The lake association maintains a 9 hole, rustic, golf course a short walk from the cabin. The greens are packed granite, and to either side of each fairway are prairies, which explode with lupine in the spring. (The association receives grant monies to protect the Karner Blue butterflies which feed on the lupine.)

The association also maintains two tennis courts, volleyball court, Frisbee golf course, community fire pit in the prairie, and trap and skeet ranges open each weekend. In addition, there are hiking/biking trails throughout the association property, which are used for classic-style cross-country skiing in the winter.

The entire front of the cabin is windows with views of the lake. There is a 52 inch flat screen TV, DVD player, and stereo receiver and speakers. The kitchen, appliances, and living room are new. There is a washer and drier. Every room has been remodeled, and the heating and air conditioning is new. It’s cute, but you judge for yourself from the photos.
Saying a property is unique is a cliché, but in this case it’s true. If you want to scream around in a personal watercraft or behind a big ski boat, this place is not for you. If want to reconnect with nature and your family, this is your chance.
